Blog Bling - 6/14/12

"Bringing Conjugations Back" - Sr. Mara

I have to admit, I found this video while trolling another teacher's moodle page.  It's true, I steal a lot of material from my colleagues and make it my own.  I always, however, give them credit for the idea.  ¡Gracias Sra. Kurtz Huber!

I can use this video in class in two ways.  One, I can show this to help reinforce concepts to lower level Spanish students.  The other, I can show this for upper level students as an example for them to create their own versions of instructional videos.  I probably enjoy this video a lot more than my students do, unfortunately.

REFLECTION:

  • How could a blog be useful in your classroom or professional life?
I would use a blog to allow my students to write more.  It's one thing to write on paper and hand something in to a teacher.  It's another thing when everyone is able to read it.  The level of concern would require students to care more about what they are saying knowing not just one person is going to read it.

I think I would use Weebly or Edmodo.  I would use Edmodo for students for the reasons stated above.  I would use Weebly for parents.  I had a horrible time keeping my website updated, probably because I don't have everything in one central location.

Before We Begin - 6/1/12

*  What motivated you to become one of our campers?

I am interested in learning more technology in a safe (and friendly) environment.  I'm glad to be in a group with my colleagues who seem to be at the same level as I am.

*  What you hope to learn about in Summer Camp 2.0?

New ideas and ways to motivate students to learn Spanish.

*  What is one cool thing you're hoping to do this summer?

Tough question...I am sort of a creature of comfort and look forward to spending time with my family on the North Shore and going to the State Fair on opening day.
The family vacation up north is something I've done my whole life.  My parents still go and now my kids are going.  It's nice to do the same thing every year because then it's actually a vacation and not trying to see every new thing because you'll never be there again. Plus, it's not the same when you're kids grow up.  Each year is something different because of them.  I guess that is pretty cool.
